Hello Ladies,
My name is Mary Rettig. This blog will focus on journaling for women over 50 and developing a self-care plan tailored to your needs.
Sometimes, life can be hard and challenging. Women over 50 can find themselves in the sandwich generation, balancing the responsibilities of raising children and caring for older family members.
We often plan for retirement and slow down a bit. But we must remember that as we care for others, we must also care for ourselves. For if we do not, who will do it? Probably no one.
This blog is about using journaling and other self-care strategies. I am also in the process of building an online course on selfcare.
Journaling can be a powerful self-help tool. It can help lower blood pressure, heart rate, and stress levels.
It can help people with ADHD focus, and can help with mental health. It feels better, and it helps with depression and anxiety.
SELF-CARE
Support: build your community. The goal is to support others and get support from others. It is a two-way street.
Education: Learn about things that interest you. I am a booklover, but I buy too many books. I am looking to be a great Googler.
Instead, the library is a good source for books. For both online and hard copies.
Laughter: I use humor to deal with life difficulties and challenges.
Free time: Schedule time for yourself to do what you enjoy.
Calm breaths: (learn several breathing techniques.)
Accept what you can not change. Write a list including other people.
Record/journaling
Exercise: (just move your body.) Any type of movement is good.
Listening to women and letting them have their voices heard may be more critical than self-care. Self-care, which involves taking care of oneself, can be essential but complex for older women. It may also look different for many people.
I would appreciate it if you comment on my posts. It should only take a few minutes of your time.
